Plunging 620 feet (189 meters), Bridalveil Fall is the first major waterfall seen when entering Yosemite Valley. Known as “Pohono” to Southern Sierra Miwuk Indians, the waterfall is framed by Leaning Tower and Cathedral Rocks. This unique viewpoint at the base of Bridalveil Fall can be reached via two routes: From roadside parking on Southside Drive, follow a paved trail south of the road, which traces the historic carriage road, to the base of the fall. This route is approximately 0.75 miles roundtrip with a gentle incline. From the parking lot along Wawona Road, follow the paved trail for a 0.5-mile roundtrip walk with a gentle incline. This viewpoint is situated at the base of Bridalveil Fall, allowing you to get an up close view of this waterfall, which flows year round. Tips & Seasonal Information Caution: stay back from the stream. The boulders are treacherously slick and water flowing in the creek is often very swift and very cold. Stay on trail and do not cross fences or barriers. Leashed pets are allowed on both paved trails that lead to this viewpoint. Bridalveil Fall is reachable year-round. The trail may be icy and very slick in winter. Expect heavy spray from the waterfall in spring, when the waterfall flows most strongly. During the rest of the year, look for its characteristic light, swaying flow. Accessibility About halfway up the trail from the main parking lot, there is a wheelchair accessible viewing platform. Beyond this point, to reach the final viewing area, the grade increases and is not wheelchair accessible, though it is paved. The main parking area has a family restroom, separate from the men's and women's restrooms, that is also wheelchair accessible.
