Geology Hut
Attractions

Learn about Yosemite's geologic story while taking in panoramic views. Completed in 1925 and designed by National Park Service architects Herbert Maier and Ansel Hall, this structure was the first trailside museum in the national parks system. A few million years ago, ice once dominated Yosemite's landscape. Repeated glaciations helped carve and sculpt the scenery. Rockfalls, waterfalls, and rivers have continued and will continue to shape and transform Yosemite's dramatic landscape. Seasonal Information While the hut is open year-round, it is only reachable by car when Glacier Point Road is open, which is typically from approximately late May through October or November. Accessibility The geology hut is not wheelchair accessible. The overlook below the geology hut has very limited accessibility. The path is paved, however, the grade is steep. Designated accessible parking spaces are available in the Glacier Point parking area.
