Visit one of the largest high-elevation meadows in the Sierra Nevada, Tuolumne Meadows, and see the Tuolumne River meandering against a backdrop of rugged mountain peaks and glacially carved domes. The meadows are surrounded by stands of western white pine, mountain hemlock, and lodgepole pine. Belding's ground squirrels, mule deer, and yellow-bellied marmots are frequently seen in the meadows along with many other species of wildlife. Experience views of Tuolumne Meadows with a short, easy walk toward Parsons Lodge . For a longer, more challenging hike through the meadow system, consider hiking toward Glen Aulin . Tips & Seasonal Information Tuolumne Meadows is only reachable by vehicle only while Tioga Road is open, typically from late May or early June to October or November. Stay on official trails to protect fragile meadow ecosystems! Dogs, bicycles, and strollers are not allowed anywhere in the meadow or on hiking trails. Accessibility Trails toward Parsons Lodge and Soda Springs are mostly wide with gravel surfaces that may be accessible to some mobility aid users. From Parsons Lodge parking, the trail toward the lodge reaches a bridge over the Tuolumne River with several stone steps on either end of the bridge.
