Check the website for updates on the reopening date. One of California's original mountain resort hotels, the Victorian-era Wawona Hotel was originally established in 1856. Accommodations consist of 50 standard hotel rooms with private bath and 54 standard hotel rooms with shared restrooms as well as an on-site dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Galen Clark, a former gold prospector, built the first structure on this site. He built the simple log cabin along the original trail into Yosemite Valley. Visitors would stop along the way to restock their provisions and rest before continuing their travels. From these humble beginnings, the Wawona Hotel eventually attracted many famous travelers of the day, including President Theodore Roosevelt. Operating Hours & Seasons Both lodging and dining room are currently closed during the comprehensive condition assessment. Typically open March to November and several weeks in December. The front desk is staffed 24 hours a day. The hotel dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Special holiday meals and barbecues on select weekends may be available.
